PURPOSE: To obtain an excellent radiation-sensitive photographic emulsion by forming 100} tabular grains occupying specific % of a total grain projection area in such a manner that these grains include non- 100} edge structures. CONSTITUTION: At least 50% of the total grain projection area of this photographic emulsion is occupied by the high (>90%) chloride thin type (<0.2μm) tabular grains having the 100} main faces respectively having at least one edge surfaces oriented to the atm. faces different from those of the main faces. Namely, for instance, the tabular grains 200 are partially bordered at the parallel 100} atom faces forming the main faces 202 and 204. Further, the tabular grains 200 have the 8 edge faces including slants S1, S3, S5, S7 intersecting with the upper 100} main face 202 and slants S2, S4, S6, S8 intersecting with the lower 100} main face. The four additional edge faces 206, 208, 210, 212 are oriented perpendicularly to the 100} main faces. The respective edge faces of the grains 200 exist at the 100} atom faces.
