The display panel (2) is mounted on the front face of a light transmissive backing slab (1). The base of the slab has a perpendicular flat face (11). Illumination (3) passes through this face. Illumination rays pass through the slab parallel to the front face and are reflected from a concave surface (12) on the opposite top edge towards the front display panel.
