The lifting aid has wheels (12,13) which can be raised relative to a base frame (2) and the platform (26) can be elevated with the aid of a motor. Feet in the form of angled supports (3,4) and having board contact surfaces (6,7) are provided on the base frame. The rubber-tyred wheels have a motorised raising and lowering system within a parallelogram frame (8). A high folding ramp (36) is fitted at one end of the platform.
