X-rays (16) are emitted from an x-ray tube (15) onto an element or object (11) which has been placed on a sample dish (13). The element or object emits fluorescent rays (14) which are reflected from two equidistant multilayered mirrors (17,18) via a collimator (22) to a radiation detector (12). The mirrors are moveable in order to change the reflection angle. This allows variable radiation intensities.
