Improving visibility of line structures in digital gray value images

The process is used to improve the visibility of line structures with the aid of image processing. The digital image is formed by a raster pattern of points (i, j), with each point having adjacent points defined diagonally, horizontally and vertically. The process has a first stage in which a low pass filter operation is performed. The second step involves the determination of values for each point in each of the 4 directions. Maximum values are then determined, multiplied by a weighting and added to the signal.
