Large sized flat composite material sandwich panels

Flat panels of large dimension made from composite materials in a sandwich structure are made by assembling a number of elemental panels (6) together. The elemental panels (6) consist of two thin skins directly bonded on a central core, under vacuum. The elemental panels (6) have one surface treated and are then laid edge to edge (7) on a flat surface (5) with the treated surface uppermost, to form the required sized panel. Fibrous fabric is laid-up over the treated surface and polymerised to form a tough skin (8). The structure is turned over and the process repeated.
