The helmet (10) is joined to a rigid shell (50) which is made of plastics containing glass or carbon fibres. It rests on the user's shoulders and has a front part (54) and a shorter back part (56). The shell is joined to the helmet by an articulation (70) allowing limited movement of the head. The articulation allows the head to turn round 45 degrees, but only allows the head to be moved forwards and backwards through 20 degrees. The articulation can comprise two pivots on the tip of the shell which engage in oval holes in the helmet. |
