The invention concerns a device and a process for detecting pollutants in a liquid fuel flowing in a fuel line (1). From the fuel line (1) runs a closable feed line (2) opening into a container (3) of known volume. Said container (3) has a heating device (10) and is connected to an analyser (5) via a closable connecting line (4). A sample of the fuel of constant volume is measured at a high constant temperature and then analysed.
