Bicycle back=pedal brake with freewheel at pedal bearing

The brake has a freewheel which is firmly coupled to the axis of the pedal bearing (15) and permits a rotary movement of the pedal in the bicycle drive direction. During back-pedalling the freewheel is locked and steers a cable coupled to the freewheel lock and the brake such that it initiates the bicycle braking.Pref. the compression or tensile rod forms the cable. The freewheel may be a disc-shaped body. The freewheel may be fitted with a follower disc (22) with toothed retentions (14) engaged by one or more hooks (16), on back-pedalling.
