The arrangement includes a container (3), at the end of the mast (2) remote from the hull, for an unfoldable unit (4). The unfolding and/or inflation of the latter is initiated by a switch unit (5) responding to angle of inclination. This switch unit is installed at the hull end (11) and is provided with a power source (6), e.g. battery or accumulator. The buoyancy unit is inflatable automatically and/or manually by a compressed medium (8), e.g. contained in one or more gas cartridges.The complete power supply can be provided by two current circuits separated by a diode, one circuit being assigned to the safety network and the other to the on-board supply network. The safety network comprises the switch unit, a release valve (12) for the compressed medium, e.g. gas, and an accumulator. The on-board network comprises a ship generator (7), a current converter and ship accumulator (17).
