摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain such an inexpensive axial gap type brushless motor that the rotational position of its rotor can be surely detected by means of a position sensor and, at the same time, at least its driving coil and rotor can be reduced in size. CONSTITUTION:An axial gap type brushless motor is operated in such a way that a position sensor 32 mounted on a circuit board 30 detects the rotational position of a rotor 24 and the excitation of a plurality of driving coils fitted to the board 30 is controlled based on the detected position of the rotor 24. A recessed sensor escaping section 34a is formed in the driving coil 31 provided in the fitting position of the sensor 32 so that the section 34a can face the circuit 30. The sensor 32 is positioned in the hollow area surrounded by the coil 31 with the sensor escaping section 34 by housing part of the sensor 32 in the escaping section 34a in a non-contacting state.
