摘要 PURPOSE:To keep a base electrode from being elongated even when pressurized and compressed by a rolling mill so as to enhance the bulk density of active material by using as an electrode base a three-dimensionally networked porous metal having a three-dimensional network structure, and packing the active material in the electrode base. CONSTITUTION:Nickel foam (three-dimensionally networked porous metal) having a three-dimensional network structure is used as an electrode base, and active material with staple mixed therein is packed in the electrode base. In this case, the staple used is a synthetic fiber, e.g. nylon. When the active material containing the staple is packed in the three-dimensionally networked porous metal, the staple is connected between the skeletons of the porous metal under pressurization and compression to serve as reinforcement. Since the transverse motion of the active material is restrained by the staple during pressurization and compression, the elongation of the base electrode in a direction perpendicular to the direction of compression (that of thickness) is restrained, and the elongation rate of the electrode can be reduced. Therefore, the filling factor of the active material can be enhanced without reducing the capacity of the electrode per unit area or per unit weight.
