PURPOSE:To obtain a display device constituted so that picture information formed by a liquid crystal light valve can be brightly projected on a prescribed surface by reducing the loss of light quantity and a projection device using it. CONSTITUTION:The display device 70 is provided with the reflection type light valve 76 which is obtained by arranging plural picture elements in a matrix state and which displays the picture information by changing the optical characteristics of the plural picture elements by a driving signal and optically modulating incident luminous flux, and a first condensing means 75 obtained by arranging and facing plural condensing members according to every plural picture elements. Then, the condensing members are set so that the focusing positions thereof become within a range being 1.3-2.5 times as long as a distance between the first condensing means 75 and the light valve 76. |
