In one aspect, an optionally responsive film that includes liquid crystal dispersed in a polymer matrix that is the reaction product of; (a) 5-60 % by weight of one or more allyl reactants; (b) 15-95 % by weight or one or more ene reactants other than an allyl; and (c) 0-20 % by weight of one or more thiol reactants. In a second aspect, the film is the reaction product of: (a) 5-50 % by weight of one or more allyl reactants; and (b) 2-25 % by weight of one or more methacrylate reactants.
