Machine for cleaning paint rollers (1) has a housing (25) containing wash cells (24) in which the rollers (1) are free to rotate and nozzles (39,48) which are offset relative to the axis of rotation so that the jets of cleaning fluid from the nozzles (39,48) cause the roller (1) to rotate, where the novelty is that each wash cell (24) has a shaft (26), onto which the hub (1') of the roller (1) is mounted so that the roller (1) is free to rotate, and a means of rotating the roller (1).
