The padded upholstered element (2) is supported by a support element (1) having front (6) and back side (8) and comprising seat area (4) and backrest (3) with intermediate transition area (5). Between the seat area (4) and intermediate area (5) and between backrest (3) and intermediate area (5) the support element (1) has openings (7, 12) through which the part of the upholstered element (2) running on the back (8) of the intermediate area (5) is passed to the front side (6).The support element can be made as a one-piece moulded shell. The upholstered element can be made in one piece. It can be woven from criss-crossing longitudinal and transverse bands.
