<p>A control device for a valve of an internal combustion engine comprises a valve (3) associated with resilient biasing means (11) biasing it towards its closure position and valve control means (5) for urging the valve (3) towards its open position. A hydraulic brake device (23) for slowing the movement of the valve (3) in the latter part of its closing stroke includes an annular chamber (36) defined between the tappet (6) and a bush (8) coaxially outside the tappet (6) in communication with a source (20, 22) of oil under pressure. A tappet clearance compensation device (30), interposed between the tappet (6) and the valve (3), which can be connected to the pressurised oil source (20, 22) of the hydraulic brake device (23) includes a pair of auxiliary ducts (50, 52) formed respectively in the body of the tappet (6) and in the bush (8), which permit the automatic compensation device (30) and the hydraulic brake device (23) to be connected together when the valve (3) is in the closure position. <IMAGE></p> |
