Two stage digester for animal and plant waste

The digester, primarily for animal waste, has a lower, conical first stage (2) and a ring-shaped second stage (3), interconnected by transfer openings (12). At the top of the digester, the gas spaces (6,7) are for CH4 and CO2. Heaters (8) adjust the process temperature in the first stage (2). To prevent a floating mat accumulation, there are arrangements (9) for thorough mixing. In the second stage (3), between the first stage (2) and the reactor inner wall, there is an aerobic filter (4). This is glass fibre, mounted on a carrier frame in a star profile. The lower part of the second stage (3), is constructed as a sludge bed reactor (5).
