The method involves the furniture part having a main surface (2) and one edge (7), and in the main surface and edge is a throughgoing decorative surface (4), with material of a plate contg. the decorative surface being removed in its middle area (5), thus releasing a thin layer having the decorative surface. This layer is fixed to the edge.An MDF plate is used, and as thin layer having the decorative surface an outer fibre layer (6) of the MDF plate is freed. The outer fibre layer of the MDF plate has a thickness of 0.1 to 0.5 mm pref. 0.3 to 0.4 mm. On freeing the outer fibre layer, simultaneously a profiling of the edge is obtained.
