Sanitary sewage is purified by passing through screen tank(1), water collecting tank(3), filtering tank(4), contact oxidation tank(7), aeration filter-type settling tank(8), defoaming tank(9) and sterilizing tank(6) successively. Filtered sewage from filtering tank(4) is defoamed and preparatorily aerated by contacting agent in contact oxidation tank(8), by spraying nozzle and aerating device of aerator(10) and defoaming tank(9). Then sewage is aerated in aeration filter-type settling tank(8) and then filtered and settled by activated carbon, while settled aerobic bacteria is introduced to contact oxidation tank(7) to promote the cell division of aerobic bacteria.
