PURPOSE: To form a recording optical material capable of being adapted to a CD and having improved light stability regarding the recording optical material. CONSTITUTION: An optical recording element with a transparent substrate and a dyestuff-containing recording layer and an optical reflecting layer on the surface of the substrate consists of a recording optical material, and the above- mentioned dyestuff contains the metallic complex of a terdentate ligand azo- dyestuff ligand. The terdentate ligand azo-dyestuff ligand comprises an aminohydroxypyridine group in one of the azo bonds, and contains an aromatic ring having an electron attractive substituting group and a hydroxy group, a carboxyl group or a sulfone amide group in the other. |
