PURPOSE:To obtain image data to form an image with less noise by varying density of each process freely and adjusting optionally how to apply sharpness to the density. CONSTITUTION:A matrix of 4-row and 3-column is multiplied with a column matrix comprising three primary color original image data T' after gradation conversion by a gradation conversion circuit 11 as a column matrix and converted into 4-color sharpness image data Sx. A USM data generating circuit 13 generates USM signal data F from the image data Sx and the USM signal data F and 4-color original data S obtained by a color processing circuit 2 are added by an adder circuit 14 to obtain four color image data S' after fringe emphasis. The density of each process is freely changed by varying properly elements aij of the matrix to adjust optionally how to apply sharpness to the density. The image data S' after sharpness processing are obtained to generate an image with less noise by setting the elements ati to reduce the intensity of the Y process more than the intensity of original image data. |
