PURPOSE:To provide a discharge lamp lighting apparatus and a lighting system using thereof whose electric power consumption for heating can be lowered without complicating the circuit. CONSTITUTION:A discharge lamp lighting apparatus is provided with a lighting circuit B to supply lighting electric power stably to a discharge lamp FL having a pair of filaments fa, fb and a filament heating circuit 3 which can heat the filaments to at lowest 450K or higher during discharge lamp stably lighting time. Consequently, without the discharge properties during lighting being fluctuated, the loss of electric power necessary for heating can be greatly lowered. Also, since no heating time control circuit is needed, the apparatus does not need a complicated circuit. |
