VIDEO AND VOICE TRANSMISSION SYSTEM

PURPOSE:To attain real time transmission of video and voice signals and also store transmission of high quality video and voice signals in matching with a line transmission speed. CONSTITUTION:A storage section 150 stores in advance high quality video information subjected to high rate coding by variable rate voice/video coding sections 110, 120 via a multiplexer section 130 and a switch 140. The voice/video coding sections 110, 120 in a transmitter 100 encode video and voice signals sent in real time at a low rate, the multiplexer section 130 multiplexes low rate coding data and high rate coding data in the storage section 150 and sends the resulting data via the switch 140 and a communication control section 170. A multiplexer/demultiplexer 230 of a receiver 200 demultiplexes each of coded data via a communication control section 210 and a switch 220, a storage section 240 stores the high rate coding data and variable rate voice/video decoding sections 250, 260 decode the data.
