<p>Solid, water-soluble herbicidal compositions and aqueous solutions thereof comprise a herbicidal dipyridylium quaternary salt and, as corrosion inhibitor, a phosphate which gives H2PO4-ions on dissolution in water and a water-soluble molybdate. Suitable herbicides are the compounds disclosed in Specifications 785,732, 813,531, 813,532, 815,348 and 857,501 e.g. those of the general formul <FORM:0913413/VI/1> wherein X- is an anion and <FORM:0913413/VI/2> wherein R and R1 which may be the same or different are alkyl C1-4 radicals or carbomethoxy radicals and X- is an anion. Suitable phosphates which may be used in an amount of 1-20% (preferably 5-15%) by weight of the herbicide are sodium, potassium, calcium and ammonium dihydrogen orthophosphates and dipotassium and di-sodium monohydrogen orthophosphates. The preferred molybdate is sodium molybdate which may be used in an amount of from 0.1 to 2% (preferably 0.2-1%) by weight of the herbicide.</p> |
