PURPOSE: To obtain a lighting system for an escalator or a moving walk suitable for attachment to a balustrade having a narrow outline. CONSTITUTION: In this system, passive light sources mounted at freely selectable illumination points in an escalator 6 are respectively connected to an active light source 1 via glass fiber optical conductors, and by respective integrally formed optical system 1.4 to illuminate a movable stair or pallet belt 14. Light of the active light source 1 easily detachable and having a lamp 1.2 disposed in the center is fed into the discrete optical conductors at an end face in an optical conductor terminal 1.3. The optical conductors together form a fiber- optical light transmission network from the active light source 1 to the passive light sources, and are combined at both sides of the movable stair belt 14 into respective strand-shaped optical conductor bundles 22 with the bundles 22 laid into pedestal channels 23 via branches 24. The passive light sources are drawn into light outlets 25 of balustrade inside faces 26, pedestal plates 27, balustrade outer cover strips 28 or balustrade inner cover strips 29. |
