<p>PURPOSE:To give a guideline which is effective in preventing a rear-end collision accident by appealing to the sense of sight of a driver by operating a safe running speed on the basis of an own-vehicle running speed, a distance between vehicle bodies and a relative speed and both the running speed and displaying the safe running speed on a common speed graduation. CONSTITUTION:A pinter 3 indicates a speed graduation 2 on a scale plate 1, and it displays on own-vehicle running speed. On the other hand, the own-vehicle running speed, an intervehicle distance from the own-vehicle up to the other vehicle running in front of it and a relative speed between the own-vehicle and the other vehicle are detected, and the safe running speed of the own-vehicle is operated on the basis of them. Then, the safe running speed which has been found is displayed by a pointer 4 which is shorter than the pointer 3. At this time, the safe running speed and the running speed are displayed by using the graduation 2 in common on the same scale plate 1. As a result, a driver can recognize whether he should decelerate or can accelerate by the sense of sight irrespective of whether a noise exists or not, and the effect of avoid a danger such as a rear-end collision or the like can be enhanced.</p> |
