Absorbent granules made of diatomaceous earth

Absorbent granules for horticultural use, are composed of diatomaceous earth mixed with a urea formaldehyde resin in an amount of 20-50 pts. resin to 100 pts. earth. Absorbent granules are produced by mixing damp diatomaceous earth with resin which contains an acid catalyst. Granules are shaped by extruding and then dried at 95-180 deg. C. The earth is initially taken from filter cakes obtained in a beer- or wine-making plant.
