<p>PURPOSE: To provide an expansion joint capable of adjusting angular non- coincidence between fluid carrying pipes, and adjusting relative axial movement of the fluid carrying pipes to each other. CONSTITUTION: An expansion joint for connecting a fluid carrying pipe 12 to a fluid carrying pipe 14 includes annular couplings 16, 18 which can be actuation-connected to the corresponding pipes 12, 14 respectively. The couplings 16, 18 includes cylindrical bores 22, 26 of substantially equal diameters forming passages for flow communication through both pipes 12, 14. An annular bellows 34 is extended between the couplings 16, 18 for adjusting relative axial movement and angular non-coincidence between both pipes 12, 14. The annular bellows 34 is disposed radially on the outer side of a passage 30 to catch fluid leaking from between boundary surfaces of the couplings 16, 18. A second cylindrical bore 50 of the coupling 16 is engaged with a spherical outer surface 56 of the coupling 18, and allows the rotation of the coupling 18 for adjusting angular non-coincidence between both pipes 12, 14.</p> |
