RACK AND PINION TYPE CONNECTOR ASSEMBLY

PURPOSE: To provide a rack and pinion type connector assembly easy to handle, rapidly fittable with low fitting force and preventing improvident motion of a lever arm. CONSTITUTION: A lever arm 14 having a pinion 10 at one end is rotatably fitted to a housing 4 of a connector assembly 3. The housing 4 is provided with a latch member 20 latch-engaged with the lever arm to hold it. The latch member 20 is provided with a cam member 28. When an object connector 2 is inserted, the cam member 28 deflects the latch member 20 in cooperation with the connector 2 so as to release engagement between the lever arm 14 and the latch member 20.
