PURPOSE:To improve charging efficiency by providing a separator, difficult to permeate oxygen gas, between an MH electrode and the third electrode. CONSTITUTION:An electrode 2 is used as a positive electrode, and a hydrogen storage alloy electrode (MH electrode) 1 is used for charging, in a battery, to provide separators 3, 5, difficult to permeate oxygen gas, between the MH electrode 1 and the third electrode 4, of the battery. In these separators 3, 5, permeating oxygen gas between the MH electrode 1 and the third electrode 4 is limited. In addition to having character of limiting permeation of oxygen, having hydrophilic property and insulation and displaying high ion conductivity in an alkaline solution are preferable. Here is isolated between the MH electrode 1 and the third electrode 4 by a permeation difficult fine hole or non-porous or polymer film. Then oxygen gas, generated at charging time, is diffused into the separator 3, to react with hydrogen accumulated in the MH electrode 1, so as to suppress decreasing charging efficiency. |
