PURPOSE:To automatically and efficiently arrange parts on a plate material. CONSTITUTION:A rectangular area A surrounding the whole part 2 is divided into plural small areas B by vertically and horizontally sectioning the area A, binary data in each picture element are detected correspondingly to the existence of the part 2 in each small area B and small area array data indicating the rate of detected 'existence' data are adopted as the geometric feature value of the part 2. A rectangular area A and small areas B having the same sizes as that of the part 2 are formed on a plate material 1, a small area array data indicating the rate of 'nonexistence' of binary data in each small area B is set up as the geometric feature value of the plate material 1, the sum of squares of differences in geometric feature values between the part 2 and the material 1 is found out in each small area B, and the part 2 is arranged on the material 1 so that a difference between these square sums approahes zero. |
