COMPOSITION FOR TEXTILE SOFTNER

The fabric softening agent composition is composed of 4-30wt.% of a glutamic acid dialkyl ester type quaternary ammonium salt cpd. of formula(I) and 10-50wt.% of a nonionic surfactant. In(I), R1 and R2 are each C8-22 (un)satd. alkyl or alkenyl; R3 is (CH2CH2O)mH or methyl; R4 is (CH2CH2O)n H or methyl; m+n is 1-30; R5 is C1-3 alkyl; X is Cl- or CH3SO4-. The cpd. (I) is produced by the exterification of a higher aliphatic alcohol with a glutamic acid. The nonionic surfactant is pref. polyoxyethylene glycol alkyl ehter(or ester) and/or polyoxyethylene glycol of sorbitan fatty acid ester. The softening agent has a high water absorptivity and a good antistatic effect.
