The invention concerns a method of coating metal surfaces with copper or copper alloys deposited from alkaline aqueous solutions of copper complexes. The method proposed is characterized in that cyanide-free aqueous solutions of salts of copper complexes with biuret are used to deposit copper or copper alloys with or without the application of electric current. The invention also concerns articles with metal coatings produced by the above method.
