A device for repairing holes, tears and the like in pipes (2) carrying fluid under pressure comprises a casing (4) for location over, to surround, an extent of the pipe (2) containing an area to be repaired, the casing (4) including an outer wall (12) spaced from the pipe (2) and having opposed end regions (14, 16) terminating at or adjacent the surface of the pipe (2). An inflatable seal (6) of a flexible material is located in the casing (4) over the area of the pipe (2) to be repaired, and is inflated to a pressure at or exceeding that in the bore of the pipe (2) whereby it expands to react between the outer wall (12) of the casing (4) and the surface of the extent of pipe (2) thereby to seal against the area of the pipe (2) to be repaired.
