A vehicle or machinery chassis 2 is provided with ground engaging means 3 mounted on at least one transverse chassis member 4 and laterally spaced longitudinal chassis members 5. Each longitudinal chassis member comprises a plurality of modular elements 6 fastened together end-to-end. At least one of the modular elements is substantially hollow for housing therein moving parts and/or connection means for energizing and/or controlling moving parts of the vehicle or machinery 22 to 24. The modular elements have access opening for accessing their interiors. The modular elements may be C-shaped, U-shaped, or comprise box sections. They may have slanting end faces, and may be cranked (Fig. 5). The access openings may have closures (19, Fig. 2). Applications include crop harvesters, graders, and separators. <IMAGE> |
