PURPOSE:To obtain an elastic roll excellent in smoothness not requiring the outer fitting of a resin sleeve by directly forming a coating layer containing a filler on the outer periphery of a base layer becoming an elastic layer in an unvulcanized and non-foamed stage and vulcanizing and foaming the whole in a mold. CONSTITUTION:A preform 10 wherein a base layer 2 before vulcanization and foaming is formed on the outer periphery of a metal shaft member 1 is prepared and a polymeric compsn. containing a filler is applied to the outer periphery of the base layer 2 of the preform 10 to obtain a coating layer 4. Next, the preform 10 having the coating layer 4 formed thereon is set to molds 5, 6 and the base layer 2 is vulcanized, foamed and expanded to mold an elastic base layer and, at the same time, the outer peripheral surface of the coating layer 4 is pressed to the inner wall surfaces of the molds 5, 6 to form a specific outer shape. Therefore, the smoothness of the outer peripheral surface of the coating layer 4 of the molded product obtained from vulcanization and foaming is kept. |
