PURPOSE:To safely, easily obtain in high yield the subject compound useful as an excellent central muscle relaxant with low side effect, by decomposing a compound prepared by reaction between 5-chloro-2,1,3-benzothiazole-4-amine and a 1-acyl-2-imidazolidinone. CONSTITUTION:The objective 5-chloro-N-(4,5-dihydro-1H-imidazol-2-yl)2,1,3- benzothiadiazole-4-amine (salt) of formula IV is obtained by reaction between 5-chloro-2,1,3-benzothiadiazole-4-amine of formula I and a l-acyl-2-imidazolidinone of formula II (R is a lower alkyl or a lower alkoxyl) in the presence of phosphorus oxychloride to form a compound of formula III which is then refluxed in an alcohol or treated with an acid or base to effect decomposition. |
