PURPOSE:To separate impurities such as Mn without reducing the yield of nickel so much at the time of subjecting a composite sludge in which several kinds of plating sludge as industrial waste products are mixed to treatment and recovering valuables such as nickel. CONSTITUTION:At the time of subjecting a one obtd. by subjecting plating sludge to oxidation roasting to reduction melting by an electric furnace, it is operated in such a manner that the equivalent of coke to be added is regulated to 0.8 to 1.0 and the ratio of CaO/SiO2 in slag to 0.7 to 1.25. Moreover, the reducing rate of Fe is obtd. to correct the addition of coke.
