System in which an electronic control card A is located in the plant room and is connected by means of two fibre- optic cables 1 and 2 to another control card B located above the car C. In addition, the control card A is connected, by means of another two fibre-optic cables 3 and 4, to a plurality of plant modules P1, P2 ... which are interconnected in series and embodied in turn in respective electronic control cards. The control card A located in the plant room receives impulses from an incremental optical encoder E and, via the speed variator F, controls the three-phase motor G for raising and lowering the car C. A portable electronic control card D acting as a portable programmer may be coupled to the electronic control card B located on the car C. <IMAGE>
