<p>PURPOSE:To provide an ATM cell format converter that is able to be restored automonously from a data un-communication state when a bit shift takes place in the case of writing or reading cells. CONSTITUTION:When an idle cell detection circuit 14 detects an idle cell from received data, a monitor cell having a monitor pattern is generated by a monitor cell generating circuit 15 and given to a monitor cell insert circuit 16, in which a monitor cell inserts to the received data. A monitor pattern discrimination circuit 18 discriminates whether or not a detected monitor pattern of the detected monitor cell detected by a monitor cell detection circuit 17 from output data from a buffer 2 is coincident with a reference monitor pattern generated by the monitor cell generating circuit 15 and generates a bit shift signal when they are dissident. A buffer reset control circuit 5 resets a buffer 2 when receiving the bit shift signal from the monitor pattern discrimination circuit 18.</p> |
