OPTICAL FIBER PROBE AND ITS MANUFACTURE

PURPOSE:To provide an optical fiber probe in which the peripheral end part of a clad does not collide with the surface of a sample, whose detection efficiency is high and which can be manufactured easily and to provide a manufacturing method of an optical fiber probe in which a clad part does not collide with the surface of a sample and whose detection efficiency is high. CONSTITUTION:One end of an optical fiber 1 in which the diameter of a core 2 composed of quartz SiO2 to which germanium oxide GeO2 has been added is at d and in which the diameter of a clad 3 composed of quartz SiO2 is at d0 is provided with a detection end part 4 whose tip angle which has been made sharp to be a conical shape from the outer circumference of the clad 3 up to the center of the core 2 is at theta. In addition, a first coating layer composed of chromium and a second coating layer composed of gold are formed on the detection end part 4, and a very small opening which is smaller than the wavelength of detection light is formed in the tip of the detection end part 4.
