<p>PURPOSE:To provide a piano sound stopping device increased in the shock absorbing effect without increasing its thickness compared with a conventional piano sound stopping device and provided with a shock absorbing member less in sinking amount at the time of abutting a hammer shank on the member. CONSTITUTION:A shock absorbing member 31 abutted on a hammer shank at a prescribed stopping position during the time that the hammer starts a string striking operation by keying up to execute the striking of the string, and consisting of three kinds of layers is provided in a stop rail 35 which stops the string striking operation of the hammer. The three layers are laminated with layers 31a, 31b and 31c in the order of softness from the outer side abutted on the hammer shank. When the hammer shank is abutted thereon, the layers 31a, 31b and 31c deform to successively absorb the shock. Thus, this shock absorbing member is made less in the sinking amount of the hammer shank than that made of only the layer 31a material and larger in the shock absorbing amount than that made of only the layer 31c material, compared in terms of the same thickness.</p> |
