A send station for a pneumatic conveyor by way of which a carrier (15) can be introduced into the conveyor tubing, the send station including an aperture providing access for introduction of a carrier (15), a closure member (17) for closing said aperture, and abutment means (19) responsive to movement of the closure member (17) to its open position such that in an open position of the closure member (17) the abutment means (19) will permit a first carrier (15) of predetermined length to be introduced, but will prevent displacement of the first carrier (15) within the station through a sufficient distance to permit introduction of a second carrier, said abutment means (19) being deactivated by movement of the closure member (17) to its closed position to permit said first carrier (15) to be conveyed from said station by air flow.
