The invention concerns the complete gene sequence of the RFB provirus genome. According to the invention, RFB retrovirus and other osteoinductive retroviruses associated therewith are used to develop a therapeutic agent for treating bone diseases, in particular for inducing bone regeneration. The coding areas of the RFB retrovirus are identified as the genome sections responsible for bone regeneration.
