Surface-modified conductive pigment useful in coating, plastics and prints

Surface-modified conductive pigment (I), obtd. by partly coating a conductive pigment (II) with an organic modifier (III), is new. (I) is obtd. by (a) dispersing (II); then (b) adding (III), opt. mixed with a solvent, to the (II) dispersion in such an amt. that the electric powder conductivity of (I) is between 80% of the initial value and 10<-7> S; (c) removing volatile reaction prods. and any solvent present by further agitation and heating to 100 deg C; and (d) drying (I). Also claimed are coatings, thermoplastics, casting resins and prints pigmented with (I) and the use of (I) for pigmenting these.
