The washing control device for a washing machine comprises: a transmissivity sensing unit for sensing the transmissivity of the washing water in a washing tube; a saturation state determining unit for determining the saturation state of the signal sensed by the transmissivity sensing unit; a memory unit for storing the signal output from the transmissivity sensing unit; a coefficient of correlation operating unit for calculating the coefficient of correlation of the data stored at the memory unit and the transmissivity sensing data; and a control unit for comparing the coefficient of correlation calculated from the coefficient of correlation operating unit with a predetermined reference value and determining and correcting the control information.
