Articulated fitting for adjustable seat backs, esp. in vehicles

The backrest has a component which is pivotally connected by an adjusting shaft with an eccentric section, to a rigid component in the seat. The shaft has a driver (20) with a tongue (22), which is enclosed by the narrow sides of two opposing wedge sections (24), and a torsional spring (25) whose limbs (26) press apart the broad sides of the wedges. The driver (20) contains a resisting member (30) which acts on the torsional spring. Either the driver, or the spring can also have an inclined plane, which its counterpart acts against, and the resisting member can be shape mated with the spring, opposite from the limbs.
