The trailer is connected to a towing vehicle by means of dual towing hitches spaced laterally of the vehicle so that the vehicle extender can pitch upwardly and downwardly but cannot yaw from left to right nor roll with respect to the vehicle. The hitch of the towing vehicle is replaced by a towing beam bolted to the normal hitch mount and having two laterally spaced hitch points. The trailer has a single castor mounted wheel set longitudinally positioned so that, even when reversing, during which the castor wheel set swivels to a forward located position, the centre of gravity of a load in the trailer remains forward of the horizontal axis of rotation of the wheels. Support legs may also be provided for stability when the trailer is unhitched. The wheel set may have a single or dual wheels, and the castor action may be damped, e.g. by a friction washer. <IMAGE> |
