The fine material vortex mixer (1) has a casing (2) and a water inlet (3) through which water can enter the casing (2), a fine material feeding device (4) to feed e.g. SiO2 to the casing and a mixing device (5), all of which lie in the casing and with which the fine material and water can be mixed. There is a compressed air inlet device to feed compressed air for whirling the mixt. of water and fine material. Also claimed is a process to mix fine material and water using the vortex mixer as described above.
